Thank you for the connection. Love the intro, especially the Title of the account. Following your Title example, I wouldn’t be able to be as creative for I would have to steal Loretta Lynn’s song title. Both grandfathers were coal miners in the “Old Country,” as well as here in the “Good Ole USA,” and my Dad was also a coal miner, but only for 12 years. He got hurt seriously enough to spend almost the whole first year of marriage lying on the floor.
I assume coal miners go back even further in my family, except my ancestry searches only find them getting off the boats on Ellis Island, where one of them promptly changed both his first and last name. As you know, Elisa, from long ago stories over drinks in Boston, my family stories only get stranger from there.
Thanks for including me, Elisa. Like you, I'm trying to write my way through the chaos we are experiencing - from climate to political disasters. Focusing on something positive is going to be key to surviving mentally. I look forward to your well written distractions!
Love this, Elisa! And thank you for sharing that photo! I feel like you are continuing in his tradition of laying foundations — be it the foundation of a book or the foundation of a literary community. 💕💕💕
Elisa - appears that you are kicking off the new year with new beginnings. Let me add my name to the list of bricklayer families. A granddaughter, niece, and cousin to a bunch of Scotsmen. Coincidentally, my Grandfather came through the port of New Orleans from Scotland.
With all the upsetting chaos in this world it is so calming and heartwarming to read stories that touch our hearts. Elisa, besides being a wonderful friend you are a talented writer whose works warm my soul.
Thank you for the post. It's a refreshing break in the noise and ongoing calamity surrounding us, Elisa, and I'm looking forward to reading it. Congrats!
I'm going with brick by brick from now on! More solid than birds.
Thanks for your words Elisa.

You need to write your own book, Jean! Your family stories are epic.
A glass or two of wine loosens the tongue, but not necessarily the mind or talent to write it all down.

Sounds like you have some great family stories to share!
I knew when I read the title, that it was personal and from the heart. I also just laid some bricks myself. Fate had us to meet…
Thanks for sharing your warmth.
Aww. Thanks, Glen. The magic of the Janasphere!
I love the name!

Aww, thanks so much, my friend.
I had sensed the autobiographical element in the title before you announced it. We should always write from what we know and have experienced.
Knowing your home on Foster’s Dam, I look forward to exploring the metaphor!!
As always, any praise from you counts double!
I am humbled!
Congrats! Love the photo as an added bonus:)
Congratulations. This is wonderful. Love everything about it.
Congrats Elisa, I too look forward to reading The Bricklayers Daughter. Wishing you a best new year.
